what was your inspiration to start
making music?
~my inspiration was my mom first
when she got pregnant with me
during college while majoring in
opera/ classical singing
she changed her dream to help my
mine come to live. i’m keeping the
dream alive
secondly what inspired me to start
making music was the first time i
ever heard my voice, on a recorded
track. a contagious feeling that i
still to this day cannot shake. the
love for music
when did you start making music
how old are you and where are you
based?
~i started making music casually at
16 years old recording myself in my
room in my parents home. i always
knew i wanted to be a recording
artist but i didn’t start to take it
seriously until after i graduate high
school
so seriously i’ve been making
music for about 2 to 4 years now
i’m 26 years old and i’m based in
long beach california. originally
from the city of san diego
california
what are 3 tips you have for
upcoming artist that wanna get into
music?
~my three tips are 1. don’t ever give
up
2. be open to anything creative
3. don’t ever stop working apply
your 10,000 hours into your craft
until you master it. & have fun
what is it about you that is different
from other artist ?
~what makes me different from
other artists is the fact that i play
over 10 different instruments, i also
read music, i’m also a producer
drummer, audio/sound engineer
and a singer/songwriter. i come
from the musical family. six
generations to be exact. music is in
my blood
but also, my sound makes me
different my combination of multiple
cadences. combined with my ability
to wrap many different forms of
flows. is what to me stands out the
most, along with my unique, singing
voice
what are your goals with being an
artist?
~my goals are to be one of the
greatest artist ever. my goals are for
my music and for my collective/
team to all be successful around
me
i want to have multiple platinum
gold and hopefully diamond records
with my music. and most of all, i
want my music to help heal the
world and to reach as many people
around the universe heal
where do you see yourself 5 years
from now?
~hopefully a multi~millionaire
successful business owner
successful musician/artist, and a
successful innovator/influencer for
the world. and also to be touring a
lot
how did you come up with your
name?
~i came up with my name with a
childhood friend. my real name is
xavier v, but everyone calls me
zayy and then truman is just the
word true without the e
the concept is i wanted to be a true
man and everything that i do, which
is why i call myself as a zayy
truman the truest of men. that’s
pretty much it
what’s your message to the youth?
~don’t let anybody tell you no. the
youth of the most powerful
specimens on this planet and
genuinely are the future. don’t be
afraid to try new things and don’t
be afraid to de~program yourself
from this worlds toxic matrix. we all
are one
what are some challenges you’ve
faced as an artist and how did you
overcome them?
~a lot of my challenges were just
financial honestly, working 9 to 5
job to find my music career, and just
not having enough money at the
time to afford marketing. that was
really the issue. i mean i did go
through some things you know bad
relationships, losing studio
equipment multiple times, losing
thousands of songs multiple times
the whole 9. hardest thing at first
was just getting people to listen
thankfully that changed
what style would you consider your
music to be?
~i consider my style to be universal
i consider my style of music to be
international, but it’s also influenced
by hip~hop trapsoul neo soul
gospel, jazz, and many more other
sub genres
but you can compare me the artists
like bryson tiller, tory lanez, drake
kendrick, lamar, ty dolla $ign, don
toliver, fetty wap ,pb rock
partynextdoor, and august
alsina. there’s a little travis scott in
there too
