i share my journey back to islam
let’s go back to the start, the beginning of my life
first of the ?, when i arrived
into this world, my whole family was there
my uncle picked me up, put the adhaan into my ear
so then i was blessed child born as a muslim
raised by family to behave like a muslim
taught by imams how to be a good muslim
but i didn’t realise what it meant to be a muslim
reason being as kid i didn’t know
what’s right, what’s wrong which road to follow
see we were all taught, but how many of us know
the meanings of what we learnt, so long ago
and it was drilled in to my brain, learned to read arabic
memorise, recite everything in arabic
yeah it’s the language of allah and i’m proud of it
but how many of us understand a word of arabic?
not saying what i was taught was wrong
but it would’ve helped if i understood earlier on
cuz if i did i wouldn’t done some of the things i’ve done
and at a young age, my emaan would’ve been strong
but i learnt these centrals, alhamdulillah
without it wouldn’t have known how to pray my salaah
and laa ilaaha illallah, muhammad ar-rasoolullah
there’s only one god and muhammad is his messenger
but adolescence came quick, shaytan started playing tricks
poisoned my mind so bad didn’t realise it
got caught up with things materialistic
think of anything haraam, bet you i done did it
so then was whole life going down a drain
thought so twisted, living with that shame
giving islam and muslims a bad name
and then i knocked a girl up, that’s when it all changed
see i realise that i made a big mistake
but i knew that, i didn’t want my kid to go astray like i did
so i put my hands up and prayed
for forgiveness and guidance towards the right way
