there we were then, in the stonehouse
we walked around with our flashlights until we found a half~there staircase up to the second floor
our ascension led us to the window
not boarded up
no glass or anything
we looked out and saw so many stars over the prairie
i don’t know why that wasn’t enough to make you fall in love with me
i think anyone could’ve fallen in love with anyone in that moment:

viewing something so simple and so beautiful
maybe you just don’t have it in you to love me
we’ve been wrestling in the dead leaves in december
