the ugly bird was startled
nearly crashed into the ground
he flapped his wings in panic
to flee and not be found
fire of creation, a nation in its youth
faustian and striving, a search for light and truth
they who keep the silent path, who count the stars at night
shall be wardens of the white fire, and bringers of the light
the next time three birds appeared
to watch from high above
to take note of his process
as he formed man with great love
the feathered gods departed
and started making men

to confound them all again
hordes of men were made
a sea to overwhelm and drown

as he planned to steal his crown
