staying up all night she didn’t really cook
the chinese store and corner store had us all hooked
a platter for dinner a hoagie for lunch
a bowl of cereal for breakfast probably capt crunch
then we got older acting just like her brothers
rashan left us and we probably never recovered
but her heart shined through and through no letdown
and we never even asked after that how she felt now
she kept pushing working or the scouts
spreading her heart around she never had a drought
this lady was so loving she would give you her last
and not eat that day she wasn’t breaking her fast
she prayed for all of us constantly she said
that we all would prosper and not end up dead
cousins locked up she never lost touch
shopping for the scouts she always got to much
that was her always and never ever complained
they called me little dub she always called me by name
i had her whole face when i look at the pictures
i remember visiting and she was getting sicker
then she asked all her grandkids to call her on zoom
and told us she had cancer the air left the rooms
i prayed that night if my grandmother go
that god make a way with no pain and slow
i needed to see her hug her a couple times
sit and talk with her and let her speak her mind
and now that you are gone we missing you heavy
in no more pain you told me you was ready
to see your lord i know heaven got a legend
and you left in this world with 5 of your seven
