upon our first emergence in this cosmos
the first cursed iteration of our being
we were born into a world devoid of reason
where idleness consumed as many as did strain
indentured servants, locked inside tall towers
gazing out upon the vastness of the skies
liberation could not be gained upon this planet
so we launched our static souls unto the void
frozen flesh, fragile jar of consciousness
stowed away on a ship to another era
frozen being, we know not how our souls will age
and whether what proceeds is something we desire
frozen vessels of knowledge soon to be obsolete
frozen dreams that reach unto eternity
we await a new life, a new beginning
but will anyone wish us to be revived?

our existence
as tempered by the wills of lords
no matter what our role
our purpose but to serve
within our cage of chrome we never truly lived
and so we built a vessel
to house our stagnant dreams
set it for a course to a place that we thought free
entrusted our survival
to unknown entities
sealed into a vault
with no way to return
decades in waiting
at last we have landed
upon our salvation
naked and sleeping
plucked from our pod
by foreign hands
that pick us up gently
to clutch in their limbs
grisly curiosity
that covets intensely
transfers us off to
our ultimate ending
extraterrestrial sample
mounted on display
probed with all manner
of inquiring technology
nothing of value found
in most of our circuits
no reason to retain
the unity of the entity
pluck out the memories
the words and the images
and discard the impulses
of this prehistoric animal
fractured and splintered
into intriguing components
their utility tested
in innumerable ports
no great adventure
no second chance
if only we had stayed
and died fighting back
