i have distinct memories as a kid
of watching tv from the left side
my face only a few inches away
twisting the proportions

i still remember thinking that
katherine ross was a titan and
dustin hoffman a scrawny beatnik

i wondered how her feet never managed to squish him through the sidewalk
like a piece of old gum
thrown out after losing its flavor

i still watch the same old movies
but from the middle of the screen i can see
their eerily equal height in led squares
and that really makes me smile

i wonder how many times i’d have to watch it to see it from every angle
since we’ve all probably never seen it exactly the same way
