or more specifically the origin of my name
rewind to the night of september 10th 1996 in brigham and women’s hospital
my mother named me eye~ yo~ me ~day
which in yoruba, a dialect straight outta nigeria
translates to my joy has come
because that’s exactly what my mother felt after 8 hours of labor with her big head boy
so that;
coupled with that fact that growing up i was always smiling
my friends and family all came to call me joyboy growing up
hence what this album centers itself around
so next time you come across an ayomide, an ayorinde, ade ayo, ayo deji, or any variation of the name ayo
let them know how much of a joy it is to meet them
i definitely wanted to talk a little bit more about me but it’s getting real late i gotta hit the road
