we can in no way compare the violent contrasting in hart’s work
with the, say, the avuncular hedonistic elements
as found in, for example, schoenberg

is that hart’s station to the metaphysical cannot possibly be compared
with, say, the prosaic and ethereal qualities of, for example, dillwater

damian, that dillwater’s early work bears very little
very li~ uh, little relation to anything
whereas most of hart’s earlier work was done, was done in the morning
which seems to me, at any rate, to give it that peculiar non~latish flavour

it’s just that his use of the iambic crotchet
as a metaphor as opposed to crochet
would seem to me to suggest some form of intoxicating new influence
