there’s a poet in the bushes. he’s been there for quite a while. it’s an unusual but harmless situation, on the face of it. all he appears to be doing is waiting, watching. pen in his hand, notebook on the moist earth. he seems eager to write, yet the pages remain empty
the reason why he’s in the bushes? not that long ago, he read these lines that changed his life. “i am a poet. if i want thе rose to bloom, the rose blooms.” it was a misty poеt called yang lian who wrote them, who opened his eyes: all he needed was a pen, some paper and a rose
as it turned out, things weren’t that easy. what is the rose for one person, may be something completely different for another. some people like flowers, others like th~rns. the poet had yet to find out. he was determined to find out. he grabbed his notebook and left the house
“there’s a strange man in the bushes.” parents warning each other. parents warning their children. telling them to stay on the pavement, to never go out on their own. to keep en eye on each other. meanwhile, the poet sits on the moist earth, waiting for his rose to bloom
