mastery over plants is not proof of power
perhaps power’s not my primary concern
nothing’s important as becoming powerful
how to be good is my preference to learn
what good is goodness if you can’t enforce it?
what good is power if enforcing wrongs?
powerful men have the chance to keep learning
the good men, it seems, don’t tend to live long
sounds like you’re talking from prior experience
haunted, perhaps from before you were strong?
i am no infant who wallows in sorrow
i’m victim to death much less frequent than cause
it’s hard to tell if you say that with pride or if every word carries a burden of shame
you can think either, or both for that matter
my power remains objective all the same
is that why you have such a preference for power?
objectivity and its blatant appeal?
i suppose you think the nuance of morals and ethics makes focus on them the ideal
well, life’s hardest questions deserve the most thought
ironic how that sounds objective
i’ve got one little question to settle this chat
if there’s goodness and power and just one to grab
and i’ve taken power as tangible fact
while you subjectively have your “goodness” intact
and your philosophizing has made me annoyed
