son of manoah, wouldn’t ya know it! let me stop before i rap the whole thing. man, this is son of manoah, the second track on my debut studio album, young samson. and uh, son of manoah is hands down, uh, my favorite track on this album. uh, this song also marks many firsts for me, right. uh, this is the first song i’ve ever rapped on, on a uk drill instrumental, uh which is highly, was highly requested by many of my listeners and supporters. but i would say most importantly, this is the first song where i peel back the curtain and dive deeper into my upbringing and personal life
um, so for those who don’t know, manoah is the name of samson’s father, and so i named this track son of manoah to share the origin story of samson that’s found in judges 13, while also sharing my origin story. and so in verse 1 i talk about the complications i experienced at birth, on verse 2 i talk about being an outcast from childhood, and still to this day never really feeling like i fit in anywhere but learning to be okay with that because i was created to stand out. and on verse 3, which is a noticeably more passionate verse, uh, i share about my struggles with l~st that began in my teenage years, and ignored the wisdom from my parents to not give satan any room to put explicit images and thoughts in my head, and regretfully showing by my actions, that i thought satan could offer me something better than jesus could
and so yeah, this song gets deep, uh, but as always in my music, i end this song with the light at the end of the tunnel, uh which is jesus christ, always, and, and as a reminder that it is when we repent and turn away from our sins, that we receive the blessing of 1 john 1 verses 5 through 10, and that the precious blood of jesus christ that was spilled on the cross cleanses us from all unrighteousness
