um, and so at this point in samson’s story, we kind of fast forward past judges chapter 14, by the way that’s a wild chapter, if you haven’t read it, please do. but here we jump to judges chapter 15, uh, where we see a miracle takе place that is quite bizarre

samson goеs to war with 1,000 philistines, who were enemies of god, and by the power of the holy spirit, he slays them all with a fresh jawbone of a donkey. with a fresh jawbone of a donkey, have to, have to put that in there. but that’s in~sane. and like every miracle, there’s no other way to explain it but by giving glory, honor, and praise to god

and so although this song is heavily focused on samson’s story, it still applies to me and you, uh, because how often is it that we pray to god to answer our prayer, to bless us with something, to heal us from something, and god shows up and does it, and instead of us giving him praise, we look to ourselves and say “look at what i did, look at what i got, look at what i accomplished.” and that is such a dangerous place to be, and often if we’re not careful, that attitude gives way to pride. and once you open up the door for pride, uh, concupiscence is not far behind
