but if all are with favour
what then will class mean
a worthless state of a disgustingly common position

all of us wish to be unblemished by this cruel world
but if all are in luxury
what then will comfort mean
a pointless state of an increasingly unexciting feeling

if all are to be with crowns
who will we flash our privilege at?
if all are to be with riches
who will listen to us brag about it?

we take not so we can keep
rather we take to show
like oceans dragging carcasses to shore
labouring for hours for things we are not too sure
we even want but it’s evidently crucial
in a generation that takes pleasure
in applying pressure
and eating up precious time
giving us false illusions of treasure
when what is of worth is impossible to measure

life takes
and it gives

but i’ve chosen not to accept handouts
and only put my hand out
to get my flowers
