lirik lagu cosmo vitelli - science affliction
[verse 1: jalal nuriddin]
it was the end of the millennium and the last centennium, and all the scientists at the time
were asked to describe the psychological vibe of phenomenon on the mind
a thousand years had passed and they were trying to grasp the mystery to be unraveled
how the future [?] and sp~ce and time doin’ intergalactic travel
their plans to escape had been taking shape, to leavе the earth for good
the sciеntific suspicions of sp~ce conditions had them wondering if they could
their time~sp~ce calculations and math estimations, they measured the sp~ce in light~years
they had taken it for granted they could leave the planet, like a~climbin’ a flight of stairs
[verse 2: jalal nuriddin]
between venus and mars lay a path to the stars, beyond the milky way
beyond fortune and fate was the dreaded wait for the world to end one day
the technology [?] in the year of the dragon, imagination had been runnin’ wild
but science fiction was a strange prediction of an inch turning into a mile
a panel was commissioned to plan an expedition for an eclipse that was due
then watch and inspect the supernatural effect before the next sp~ce rendezvous
given security clearances, and reservations for a seat
they left on their own and were secretly flown to a mountain top in crete
upon discussion of the matter they envisioned a ladder and a new type civilization
to supply and sustain a sp~ce base train for the sake of colonization
sp~ce pictures had been made and then relayed which strengthened their convictions
that the new frontiers of the future was theirs to justify their predictions
there was a satellite mission, a launch in position, between the moon and sun
they solved the riddle, what happens in the middle when the two align as one
with their sp~ce base eye they scanned the sky to see which [?] came first
but there was no end in sight, only darkness and light in the realms of the universe
the theory’s all hanged on a grand big bang with creation at its core
and they wanted to see the beginning of “be” which had never been seen before
they had a fascination with computer animation on the virtual reality scale
having all spent billions that amounted to trillions, they couldn’t afford to fail
with the eclipse due that was coming into view with a shadow cast direct
it was a lunar, solar, bipolar, black~and~white effect
one half day, the other night, one side black, the other white
with the northern hemisphere hidden from sight, they would have to rely on neon light
now the story resembled, through the journals assembled, a science fiction script
conceptually astounding, awesome and confounding, just like the name of the ship
named “intergalactic”, it had a new tactic, a brand new solar sp~ce shield
to protect, deflect, and redirect any solar radiation field
backed by solar panels that were lined up with channels of power conversion formations
to intercept and collect the sun’s effect for new sp~ce exploration
in the nose cone tip was a smaller ship, run by a clone and a drone
it was scheduled to go beyond the planet pluto, then further than they’ve ever flown
their onboard computer was called the “concluder”, and responded at the speed of thought
but light was fast and they had yet to master light year sp~ce transport
this project was immense and filled with suspense as to whether it would succeed
to be successful was stressful, but failure was dreadful, because power plus money meant greed
[verse 3: jalal nuriddin]
with the funding on the line, they were pressed for time, and they needed a stunning success
there was no known solution for earth’s pollution, and the planet was in a mess
nature was rebellin’ and pollutant was smellin’ and a~foulin’ up the air
the fish in the sea were ceasin’ to be, and the rain forests almost bare
[verse 4: jalal nuriddin]
with the weather even stranger there was a real danger, the launch had been postponed
until they were clear of earth’s atmosphere, they wouldn’t be on their own
and in times like years they could climb those stairs and establish an interplanetary station
but first thing’s first they’d have to rehe~rs~ ’cause they had no invitation
excitement was growin’ and the cameras were showin’ the countdown clock in motion
they marveled at the still and they all felt thrill as if the universe was just an ocean
time went by fast and they were ready to blast off out into the stars
to find earth’s twin and next of kin ’cause they couldn’t grow food on mars
[vocal chops]
but first thing’s first~
but first thing’s first~
but first thing’s first~
they’d have to rehe~rs~~
this is a musical connection
callin’ on [?]
callin’ on [?]
callin’ on [?]
callin’ on [?]
[verse 5: jalal nuriddin]
the launch went smooth and it started to groove with champagne, cheers and applause
to realize their dream they worked as teams, with each one loyal to the cause
ground control and command had things goin’ as planned and all they had to do was wait
their computer calculations would handle situations, malfunction or mistake
[?] theories and a prolonged series of lectures, films and charts
with computer simulations, awards and citations from the academy of sciences and arts
there were physicists, physicians, mathematicians, workin’ on the project for years
astronomers, ecologists, biologists, cosmologists, sp~ce age engineers
professors from colleges, theorists, astrologists, [?] in the press
military missions and politicians making up the rest
they could really make history, clearing up the mystery of the planet’s hypothetical twin
with a lucky [?] that hadn’t been [?] from the galaxy it was in
now the second ship was fully equipped to fly out the solar system
but survival of the clone and the [?] was unknown, though they could afford to risk them
with everything in place, they reported back to sp~ce, but the message was filled with static
time stood still, motion was nil, and [?] was automatic
[?] in their places, fear on their faces, surprised, stunned and shocked
came the realization that they didn’t own creation as time ran out on the clock
the ship had disappeared and they all felt weird at the supernatural fact
science fiction was a prediction of the curtain closin’ on their act
and as the planets slowly parted they were stopped before they started, floored by what they saw
the here and now and before and after, became no time and no no more
