girlhood never really suited me
off~kilter brand of femininity
and trying out some different names to see
which one fit best
became tired of denying who i am
i’ve taken matters into my own hands
i’m sketching out the blueprints of the man
i’m meant to be
i’ve got it all down to a science
just ask the friend i keep inside this vial
providing me with careful guidance
so i may build my truest self
emerging from my chrysalis
i’m undergoing metamorphosis
there’s no feeling quitе as good as this one
taking part in my creation
trying out some nеw identities and
finding out which ones are right for me
i break the confines of the binary in
who i am
and although my confidence is not the best
and i’m not fully pleased with myself yet
i think the closer to my goal i get
the more i’ll know
though i’m not made of bronze or marble
i’ll chip away at what no longer serves me
as both the artist and the art, i’ll show you
what self~expression really means
body but a blank canvas, on which i’m
painting my own happiness
